What Ed Stands For

Make Students Priority #1

Every policy decision begins with one question: is this best for Chicago’s kids? Ed is committed to keeping students at the center of every board vote, resource allocation, and school improvement plan.

Accountability for Your Tax Dollars

Chicago families deserve to know how their school funding is spent. Ed will fight for full budget transparency, rigorous financial oversight, and real accountability for principals and administrators.

Fight for Staffing & Resources

Our schools need qualified teachers, counselors, and support staff to help every student succeed. Ed will advocate relentlessly for the staffing levels and classroom resources Northwest Side schools deserve.

Civically Engaged Leadership

Ed brings 10+ years of hands-on school council experience to the board — not a career politician, but a dedicated community member who shows up every day because Chicago’s kids are worth it.

“The newly elected school board has a historic opportunity to ensure that schools focus on educating Chicago’s kids. I work every day at this volunteer position because that’s what it takes.”

— Ed Bannon, CPS Board of Education District 1A

Ed Bannon

A Lifelong Northwest Sider

Ed Bannon is not a politician — he’s a Chicago parent, neighbor, and civic volunteer who has dedicated himself to improving public education on the Northwest Side for more than a decade.

His three children graduated from Chicago Public Schools, giving him a firsthand understanding of what families experience every day: the pride in great teachers, the frustration with under-resourced classrooms, and the desire for a board that truly listens.

In January 2025, Ed stepped up to serve on the CPS Board of Education — continuing the same commitment to public service he has shown throughout his years volunteering in the community.
